

Meet Karen B0wser
Licensed Associate Counselor
Karen D. Bowser, MA, LAC, is a Licensed Associate Counselor returning to Charlandra Counseling Services after completing a portion of her clinical internship here during her graduate training. Karen earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Messiah University, where she built a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, assessment, trauma-informed care, and spiritually integrated psychotherapy.

Karen brings experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a variety of settings, including community agencies, private practice, and outpatient counseling centers. Her clinical work has included supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, behavioral challenges, trauma, family conflict, postpartum and perinatal concerns, and issues related to identity and development. She has also facilitated group sessions, conducted intake assessments, and supported clients involved in mandated counseling or specialized programs addressing high-risk or sensitive behavioral concerns.

Before entering the counseling profession, Karen spent over a decade in leadership, training, and organizational development roles. This background enriches her counseling work with a deep appreciation for personal growth, resilience, change, and the systems that shape people’s lives. She is committed to fostering a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their stories and pursue meaningful change.
Karen is a member of Chi Sigma Iota and the American Counseling Association. She is honored to resume her work with this practice and continue supporting clients with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
